What to Expect
The legislature is back in session this week after an eventful constituency break last week. The rules and regulations for the UCP leadership race may be released in the coming days. In addition, it is expected that some other candidates may step forward in the near future.
Jason Kenney stated his intention to remain as UCP leader and Alberta Premier until a successor is chosen in the now upcoming leadership race.
Minister of Jobs, Economy, and Innovation, Doug Schweitzer, has decided not to stand for re-election next year. This was rather surprising, as many thought he would take a chance at running for leader again.
The Week That Was
To bolster Alberta’s economy, Associate Minister of Natural Gas and Electricity, Dale Nally, will be traveling to Japan to attend the World Gas Conference from May 20-28th, engaging with international energy customers.
Construction has begun on the recovery community in Lethbridge which will be providing 50 beds to those in need as well as a safe environment for citizens to receive addiction help and mental health treatment and recovery. The construction process will provide Albertans with more than 100 jobs and an additional 100 staff positions, once operational.
