What to Expect
The Select Standing Committee on Health will meet on Thursday for in-camera deliberations to discuss the urgent and ongoing illicit drug toxicity and overdose crisis. The committee is preparing its final report, which is highly anticipated.
Look for a possible new name being announced for the Opposition B.C. Liberals this week. In June of this year the party approved a process to bring forward a new name, and recent reports suggest the next steps are in the offing.
The Week That Was
In collaboration with the federal government, the provincial government will provide as much as $830 million to develop the necessary infrastructure to expand broadband connectivity. The investment will be managed by the Connecting Communities B.C. program.
B.C. has announced the new Indigenous Food Systems and Agriculture Partnership Program, which will provide each project with up to $80,000 to increase food security. The program’s funding will come from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the provincial government.
Thanks to the $3.2 billion Canada-British Columbia Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, parents in the province will begin saving as much as an additional $550 per month for each child they have in participating licensed child starting this December.
